50th Wedding Anniversary Photos: The importance of keeping your family photos safe
50th Wedding Anniversary, Wow!
I don’t know how to express how big my heart felt for what I experienced last week. My parents in law celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary!
My husband and sister in law prepared a little party. They live in Torreon, Mexico, so we flew from San Antonio and she flew from Tijuana.
My parents invited just a few other relatives. It was a very intimate celebration. Only 1 of the 7 grandkids could assist.
My job (one of many others) was to do a video, so I talked with all the grandkids and asked them to send me a video with a message for them.
I also started looking for photos. What a huge task! First you start looking at the images and suddenly without notice, hours have passed while you were lost in the memories.
I realized how important it was to be really organized with your photos. I do have a file by year and by month or event with all the images, so that part was easy; but I also needed the rest of the family photos: With the grandparents, portraits and the ones of special events.
Another problem was that I had a lot of photos from my family, but not from my sister in law!… and she couldn’t help me because she had all her photos on a hard disk that she couldn’t find.
It was a good thing that we had spent a lot of time with her family, because I had lots of photos with them, including her. Oh! I can’t imagine losing all my memories!
All this experience showed me that it’s very important to keep your photos in a safe place, and it’s also important to at least print the images that you like the best.
You may think that if you print all the images that you like, then all the walls on your house will be full of photos; but there are great ideas to print your photos, like a photo book for a coffee table, a digital frame, collage frames, etc.
And remember to always have a backup of your digital files. Have one at home and maybe another at your workplace. That way, if something happens, you will always have your memories safe.
Anyway. It took me a lot of time, effort, tears and emotions, but I did finish the video! It was easy once I had all the images organized. Everyone loved it.
